Where are the cabins located?

The cabins are located in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Close to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Lake James, Marion, Black Mountain, Hickory, Asheville, Hendersonville, and not far from Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville Falls, and Grandfather Mountain. Near Interstates I-40 and I-26.

How far is it to the nearest grocery store or hardware store?

For milk, bread, meat, gas 3 to 4 miles away. For beer, wine, gas, and other major grocery stores you can go to Forest City and the Super Wal-Mart is just 14 miles away.

Is there a public marina on Lake James or Lake Lure?

Yes, and several public boat ramps and docks.

What needs to be finished on the cabin?

The outside is totally finished, buyers will be responsible for all inside work, including but not limited to, bedroom and bathroom walls, floor coverings, cabinets and countertops, insulation in the floor and ceiling, plumbing and electrical. (The logs have been cut and drilled for electrical wires)

How much does it cost to finish the cabins?

As much or as little as you want to spend. Most people spend anywhere from $25,000 to $70,000. Remember, the cabins we sell are dried in weather-tight shells. Buyers can install any number of bedrooms, bathrooms, decide where and how big the bedrooms and bathrooms are, select the floor coverings, cabinets, sinks, and countertops they like or can afford. We have a local contractor to do the finish work for you, or you can do all the work yourself. Or you might just do some of the work yourself and bring in contractors for the rest. You can do any or all the work at any time you like. I have a great list of local contractors and sub-contractors for building and finishing.

What are the county real estate taxes?

The taxes are $0.67 per $100 of assessed value.

Are the roads paved?

Yes, all the roads are being paved.

What about the Utilities?

Electric: Underground Electric (Rutherford Electric Membership Corporation).

Phone: AT&T is provided to each of the properties.

Water: Wells, 200 to 400 feet deep costing $9.00 per foot.

Sewer: Septic system. Costing around $2,500 most people get their well and septic system installed for around $5,000 to $8,000 combined.

Gas: Propane tanks for gas cooking, heating, or heating oil is also permitted. Most people use Central Heat and Air (electric heat pumps).

TV: Satellite, Direct TV, or Dish Network.
